Bride Wore Jeans to Her Wedding

What! The bride wore jeans to her wedding? That’s right, it was my wedding and at sixty-one years old I’ll wear what I want. But let’s go back on my long, long journey to becoming a wife.

I’m writing this post for single women who feel they will never meet the right one. You will, as there’s someone for everyone. However, it might not be in the timing you think it should be. Lionel Richie sang it best, “Love will find a way.”

You might feel frustrated about having to wait for your life mate; however, it’s better than being with the wrong one. The following quote from my book Insights for Singles for Singles: Steps to Find Everlasting Love is what I hope you strive for:

Decades Before Bride Wore Jeans

Before Self-Growth

At twenty-seven, I was a raging co-dependent who had gotten out of a bad, dysfunctional relationship. Someone told me of a phenomenal psychic in Hackettstown, so I waited in a long line. Finally, it was my turn. I wanted to know who Mr. Right was. Her response was, “He was in the military.” My mind reeled, and I asked when I would meet him. It was so disappointing to hear she had no more to tell me.

Self-Growth Path

Life got better when I began my personal and spiritual growth path. Just because I am psychic doesn’t mean it’s easy to read for myself. My wants and desires can get in the way. Nighttime dreams can give me clearer guidance. Hence the reason that I’ll occasionally go to someone for a reading. These are from two readings.

  1. In my early 30s, a male psychic told me I would blow it if I met him then.
  2. While in my late 30s, a female psychic told me my wedding would be lovely.

Visions of My Wedding

A big wedding with an expensive gown was never my style. Someone doing my hair and makeup was never fun for me. I’ve always disliked makeup. Instead, I saw myself without makeup and wearing a new age, hippy dress made of gauze with embroidery and sequence.

When my niece, Cynthia, was a young child, she would have been my flower girl. Then I had fantasies of my cat, Merlin, being walked down the aisle before I did. Cynthia grew up and Merlin passed.

I could never choose my wedding song because it was between three. Here are the three songs, which I linked back to YouTube in case you don’t know them.

  1. Just the Two of Us sung by Grover Washing Jr.
  2. Leather and Lace that is sung by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley
  3. Ain’t Nobody sung by Chaka Khan

Mr. Right

Two of the psychics were right because I met my life mate, Chris, who is a retired military service member. If I had met him in my 30s, I would have blown it. Although he would have blown it, too.

We have been together for a long time. In another state, we would have a common law marriage, but not in North Carolina, USA. It didn’t bother me because I knew our relationship was better than most marriages. So, what if the female psychic who told me I have a lovely wedding was wrong?

My Own Psychic Message

Recently, out of the blue, my angel told me I was getting married. Wow, this was unexpected. To make a long story short, my angel was right!

You’re Going to Wear What?

We both agreed to a casual ceremony performed at the magistrate’s office. I was describing my wedding to my sister and dad at lunch one day. My sister wasn’t happy about the idea of me wearing jeans for my wedding.

My response was, “Do you know how your local newspaper describes a wedding with the bride wore sequins on her gown? Mine would be the bride wore bling, bling on her jeans.”

Other friends responded in a similar fashion. A business associate told me to have fun shopping for my dress. I don’t know her well, so I kept quiet.

Opinions always vary when it comes to weddings! It’s up to the couple to plan their special day.

Most brides have their wedding party help them dress. I was alone as I changed into my wedding outfit, so I played the Going to the Chapel song on my phone, but sang it as going to the courthouse. Then I played my three wedding songs, which ended the moment I finished dressing.

Here is a picture of the bride wearing bling, bling on her jeans pocket with wet hair.

Bling, bling Jeans

Four family members went with us to the magistrate’s office. It was a brief ceremony.

Then we went to Red Lobster and got a large, private table in the corner. The food was yummy and our waitress served us with Southern hospitality. They didn’t mind my sister brought a cake from the bakery while letting us use their plates and silver. Red Lobster’s coffee was great. We spent three hours there.

The female psychic was right, it was a lovely wedding!

In Wedding Conclusion

When you find the right one, please have your wedding your way. Wear what you want. Don’t do something to please others. Be fancy or be casual, and most importantly, be you.
