This blog post, “Dream Apps Won’t Interpret Your Dreams” will probably annoy the creators of these apps. It’s been since 2019 that I blogged about the limitations of dream interpretation dictionaries. So here we go again…

FYI, countless owners of new dream apps have contacted me attempting to get me to help market their apps on this website. I wonder if these folks are still in business.

Why Dream Apps Won’t Interpret Your Dreams

An analogy I often use is to think of dream apps as a child’s alphabet book. A child needs to learn the letters before they can write words. Then they learn how to create sentences, which could lead to a paragraph.

Do you need me to clarify this analogy? Dream apps usually consist of what a symbol means. Perhaps they include a journal, too. The definition of what a symbol means is similar to a word or sentence. If you’re lucky enough, it could turn into a paragraph.

Here are some limitations of a dream app:

• Dream apps are based on daytime symbolism.
• They are based on one or more people’s opinions of what a symbol means.
• Dream apps can not possibly list every meaning of each symbol because the app couldn’t hold all that storage.

Dream apps have some benefits for people who are beginners of dream interpretation. They could help you write a few sentences. However, dream apps won’t be able to give a deep interpretation of what your dream truly means. Just like knowing how to put a sentence together doesn’t mean you can write a short story, poem, blog, and forget about a book.

Sadly, people can use a symbol’s wrong meaning to avoid going deep within, which is what dream interpretation is all about.

Dream Categories

Dream apps don’t take dream categories into consideration. These categories can be environment dreams, solution dreams, deceased visitation dreams, premonition dreams, and more.

Let’s take the symbol of a bee flying for you to see how the meaning changes in each category.

• An environment dream could happen because there’s a bee in your bedroom.
• A solution dream might mean it is time to start a business making and selling honey.
• A deceased visitation dream is your Aunt Bea saying hello.
• A premonition dream can be a warning of a future beehive on the front porch.

There could be hundreds upon thousands of more meanings for a bee flying depending on the category and who you are.

The Individual

Symbolism can be different for daytime meaning and nighttime dream meanings. Then there’s the individual unique dream symbolism.

That’s right! Each person’s symbol could have multiple meanings depending upon:

• Their upbringing in the area they lived in, family, and religion.
• Events in their past, present, and potential future.
• Issues and lessons they need to work on.
• Their relationships.
• The emotions in their dreams.
• Other symbols in the dream.
• People in the dream.

Obviously, a dream app would blow up because it would be too much information for them to handle! And this is only for one person.

In Conclusion

Dream apps won’t interpret your dreams, but they can give you a push in the right direction – or not. Please take them with a grain of salt while beginning to learn your unique dream language.
